Mrs. Alicia Cecil is in her eighteenth year as a school administrator and her tenth year serving as principal of South Anna Elementary School. From 2007 to 2015 she was the assistant principal at Mechanicsville Elementary School. Prior to that administrative appointment, Mrs. Cecil began her career in public education in Hanover County in 2002 as a first-grade teacher at Cool Spring Elementary.
Mrs. Cecil is a lifelong learner and a two-time recipient of the Stewart D. Roberson Professional Development Scholarship. These awards allowed her to attend the Teachers College Reading and Writing Summer Institute at Columbia University to learn about writing and the PBL World 2017 conference to learn about project-based learning.
Mrs. Cecil has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s of teaching in elementary education, and an education specialist in administration and supervision degree from the University of Virginia. She is an ardent Cavalier fan.
Mrs. Cecil grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. She and her husband, Andrew, reside in Richmond with their daughter, Ella and dog, Lola. They are avid runners, tennis players, and travelers.
