Mary Townes

Mary Townes Mrs. Mary Townes is truly excited to be joining the South Anna Elementary School family as she continues her educational journey. During the past two years, she served as an assistant principal in the Hanover Online School and prior to that she served for two years as assistant principal at Henry Clay Elementary. Additionally, Mrs.Townes spent many years in Richmond City Public Schools as classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal.

Mrs. Townes attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Masters in Administration and Supervision PK–12. Mrs.Townes has a heart for teaching and learning while leveling the playing field for all teachers, students, and families. Mrs.Townes firmly believes in building strong relationships, meeting learners where they are, and setting individual goals to support their progress and achievement. She also believes in continuous learning for herself as she strives to model and be her best for students and teachers each day!

Mrs. Townes resides in the Varina area of Henrico County with her husband of 23 years, Marshall, and two daughters, Amber and Harmoni. In her free time she enjoys reading, serving her community through sorority events, trying new foods, cooking, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Mrs. Townes looks forward to learning all about the great traditions at South Anna while building relationships and helping all students reach their full potential!
