Student Hours
Students may arrive no earlier than 7:30 a.m. Our school day officially begins at 8:00 a.m.; therefore, any students arriving after 8:00 a.m. are tardy. If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., please park and ring the door bell at the front doors of the school building to sign him/her in so he/she can receive a tardy pass. Please strive to have your child at school on time daily so they do not miss vital instruction.
Morning Arrival for Car Riders
The car rider drop-off loop opens at 7:30 a.m. on the west side of the building. Please enter the lot and continue around the perimeter until you reach the sidewalk closest to the building. Once cars are lined along the sidewalk, children may exit the cars and enter the side doors to the second and fifth-grade halls. In order to prevent a traffic backup, all cars along the sidewalk should unload at the same time, then exit and make room for the next group of cars. Staff members are present beginning at 7:30 a.m. to supervise students as they make their way into the building. We encourage students to open the door and exit onto the sidewalk independently to prevent traffic congestion. We are happy to assist students who need it.
Notifying Staff of Changes in Afternoon Dismissal Plans
If you know that your child’s typical dismissal plan will be altered, please send in a note with your child that morning. If an emergency arises and you need to make a last minute change, please call the school office at (804) 749-4222. Please do not email or text transportation changes.
Early Dismissal for Appointments
If your child has a medical appointment that requires early dismissal, please complete and send in a note to make your child’s teacher and our office staff aware. Parents who wish to pick their children up prior to our regular dismissal (2:30 p.m.) should plan to pick them up at the front entrance before 2:15 p.m. Once dismissal begins, no vehicles will enter or exit the front parking lot. Vehicles in the front parking lot after 2:20 p.m. will be able to leave after all the buses have departed.
Afternoon Dismissal for Car Riders
If you plan to pick up your child from school at dismissal, please enter the west parking lot to the right side of our school building (we use the front of the school for bus pick-up only). Be sure your car rider pass with student pick up number is visibly displayed on your dashboard. Enter the lot, and continue around the perimeter until you reach the sidewalk closest to the building. For safety reasons, please do not pass cars. As you approach the sidewalk, a staff member will take note of the student pick up number on your pass. When you get to the sidewalk, a staff member will supervise your child as he/she gets into the vehicle. If you wish somebody not on the pass to pick up your child, you must send a note to school. That note will be on file with staff members facilitating dismissal. We require a photo ID from the person picking up the student.
