Emily Kennedy

Emily KennedyMrs. Emily Kennedy is thrilled to join the South Anna family as assistant principal. She is beginning her 13th year in education and fifth year in administration. Mrs. Kennedy is coming to Hanover after eight years in Henrico County and four years in Greene County. She has taught both first and second grade and has served as associate principal at her previous school for two years. Mrs. Kennedy holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in psychology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Mrs. Kennedy has a heart for foundational reading instruction and ensuring an equitable learning environment for all students. She has always worked in Title I schools and has loved being a part of the collaborative effort in providing services and instruction for students with disabilities. Mrs. Kennedy believes that relationships, community, and providing a safe school environment is key to a successful school year.

Mrs. Kennedy resides in Mechanicsville with her husband, Chris, and their two children, Walter and Isabelle, and sweet Yorkie dog, Oscar. She is excited for Walter to be heading off to kindergarten in Hanover Schools this year and looks forward to now working and giving back to the community where she lives. Mrs. Kennedy loves to run, visit the mountains, spend time with her family, and relax on vacation when the opportunity presents itself. Mrs. Kennedy cannot wait to help each student at South Anna reach their potential this school year!
